In his New Year message to Nigerians, National Security Adviser (NSA) Malam Nuhu Ribadu attributed the security successes of 2024 to President Bola Tinubu’s exceptional leadership.Ribadu expressed gratitude to the president for his strategic guidance and unwavering support to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), which he said laid the foundation for progress in enhancing national security.
The NSA also commended Nigerians for their resilience in the face of security challenges and praised the collective vigilance and cooperation of citizens in combating terrorism and violent extremism.Highlighting the sacrifices of the armed forces, security agencies, and intelligence community, Ribadu described their efforts as a testament to patriotism, courage, and commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty.
In 2024, the nation faced significant security challenges, including the resurgence of the Lakurawa terrorist group and acts of sabotage on critical infrastructure. Despite these, Ribadu lauded the Armed Forces and security agencies for their relentless efforts in containing the threats.
Looking ahead to 2025, the NSA assured Nigerians of a renewed focus on tackling terrorism, violent extremism, and organized crime through enhanced collaboration, innovative strategies, and proactive measures.He noted key achievements, such as the operationalization of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell, which has been instrumental in addressing kidnapping and related crimes.
Dedicated emergency numbers will soon be made available to facilitate timely reporting and intervention.Ribadu called on all stakeholders and citizens to intensify their efforts in building a safer nation. On behalf of President Tinubu, he wished Nigerians a peaceful and prosperous New Year, emphasizing the importance of unity in safeguarding the country.
