Nearly 400, 000 Candidates In Lagos, Southeast to Retake 2025 UTME

A total of 379,997 candidates in the just concluded 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, will have to retake the examination.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board stated this while admitting responsibility for the mass failure that trailed the UTME.

JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who fought tears at a press conference on Wednesday, made this announcement at the Board’s headquarters in Abuja.

This followed widespread complaints of technical glitches, unusually low scores, and alleged irregularities in the just-concluded UTME.

Prof. Oloyede said he took full responsibility for the negligence of JAMB’s staff, revealing that 65 centres in Lagos and 92 centres in Owerri Zone covering the five states in the South East, would rewrite the exam.
