Environmental NewsIn a bid to combat plastic pollution and promote environmental sustainability, the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has initiated talks with the Rwandan High Commission in Nigeria for a partnership.
This collaboration aims to leverage Rwanda’s expertise and successes in environmental conservation, particularly in plastic waste management.According to NESREA’s Director General, Dr. Innocent Barikor, the agency seeks to learn from Rwanda’s notable progress in combating plastic pollution and to exchange experiences and best practices in plastic waste management.
Barikor emphasized Nigeria’s push for a circular economy and NESREA’s role in promoting sustainable practices, including the ban on single-use plastics.
The Rwandan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Christophe Bazivamo, reiterated Rwanda’s willingness to collaborate with Nigeria, stressing the importance of addressing environmental issues for sustainable development. This partnership is expected to foster high-level collaboration between the two countries on environmental protection and sustainability management.
NESREA’s partnership with Rwanda is not an isolated effort. The agency has also partnered with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) to tackle Nigeria’s waste management crisis and promote a circular economy.
