New Epstein files released on Wednesday show that Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor told Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, “I can’t take any more of this,” when informed 14 years ago that a British newspaper was preparing to publish a report about the trio.
The newly disclosed emails, part of New Epstein files published by the U.S. House Oversight Committee, reveal Andrew’s frantic response to a right-of-reply request sent by the Mail on Sunday to Maxwell in March 2011. The inquiry contained numerous allegations about Andrew’s relationship with Epstein and Maxwell.
In the email chain, forwarded to Epstein and Andrew, the former prince replied: “What’s all this? I don’t know anything about this! You must SAY so please. This has NOTHING to do with me. I can’t take any more of this.”
The New Epstein files, released by Democrats as part of an ongoing congressional probe into Epstein’s criminal network, also include correspondence mentioning U.S. President Donald Trump. One email from April 2011 shows Epstein writing to Maxwell: “I want you to realize that the dog that hasn’t barked is Trump. [VICTIM] spent hours at my house with him.”
The White House later said the unnamed “victim” referred to Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide earlier this year, clarifying that she had “repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and ‘couldn’t have been friendlier’ to her.”
Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most prominent accusers, has long alleged that Andrew had sex with her three times when she was a teenager. Andrew has consistently denied the allegations and settled with Giuffre in 2022 without admitting liability or offering an apology. Earlier this month, he was stripped of his remaining royal titles after Giuffre’s posthumous memoir renewed scrutiny over his ties to Epstein and Maxwell.
Democratic Congressman Suhas Subramanyam told BBC Two’s Newsnight that Andrew had not responded to an invitation to testify before the House Oversight Committee, noting that “he doesn’t have to get on a plane to testify — he can do it remotely.”
The New Epstein files further shed light on the authenticity of a widely circulated photograph showing Andrew with a 17-year-old Giuffre. In one July 2011 email, Epstein wrote to a journalist: “Yes, she was on my plane, and yes, she had her picture taken with Andrew, as many of my employees have.”
Among other revelations, the documents include 2016 email exchanges between Epstein and Lord Mandelson, suggesting the pair remained in contact years after Epstein’s conviction. In one message, Epstein wrote: “63 years old. You made it.” Mandelson replied, “Just. I have decided to extend my life by spending more of it in the US,” to which Epstein responded, “in the Donald White House,” referring to the upcoming presidential election that week.
Lord Mandelson, who was dismissed as UK ambassador to the U.S. in September over his links to Epstein, declined to comment on the release of the New Epstein files.
The documents mark the latest in a series of disclosures that continue to expose the scope of Epstein’s global network — and the extent to which it entangled some of the world’s most powerful figures, including Andrew, Maxwell, and others.
