Nigeria Fortunate To Have Tinubu As President — Ganduje
Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that Nigeria is fortunate to have President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its leader, insisting that the North will stand firmly behind him in the 2027 presidential election.
Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, described Tinubu as a “genuine politician” and said there is no alternative candidate in the North capable of replacing him beyond 2027.
He spoke on Friday in Abuja during a courtesy visit by a delegation of Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders, representing all 19 northern states, who honoured him as patron of the forum.

The remarks come amid claims by some northern groups that Tinubu’s administration favours the South. Although the President has repeatedly dismissed the allegation — citing official data showing more northerners appointed into key government positions — some critics remain unconvinced and have threatened to oppose his re-election bid.
Responding to the concerns, Ganduje said those predicting a northern revolt against Tinubu in 2027 were mistaken.
“Those that are nursing or thinking otherwise, that the North will vote for another candidate other than Asiwaju, are making a big mistake,” he said.
“This is the first time Nigeria as a nation is lucky to have a politician as President. His constituency is politics; his upbringing is politics. He believes in the unity of this country and even went into exile in the struggle for democracy.”
Ganduje maintained that Tinubu’s ongoing reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy, demonstrate political courage and commitment to national development.

“All the candidates who contested with him in 2023 promised to remove fuel subsidy, even previous administrations promised the same. But nobody was bold enough to do it. Asiwaju has done it for the good of the nation,” he said.
He added that the reform has increased funds available to state governments across party lines, enabling development projects nationwide.
The former APC chairman also recalled an understanding reached during the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari that power would return to the South after his eight-year tenure.
Ganduje praised the Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders for mobilising support and raising funds ahead of Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid, pledging his continued backing for the group.
Earlier, the group’s National Leader, Murtala Gamji, said northern youths had resolved to support Tinubu’s re-election, dismissing claims that the region would vote against him in 2027.
