Nigeria Ministers to Showcase Infrastructure, Economic Milestones at London Conference

The Journal Nigeria May 13, 2025

Ola Akinwunmi

In a move to highlight President Bola Tinubu’s governance achievements, key Nigerian ministers and agency heads will converge in London on June 27, 2025, for an international press conference aimed at spotlighting the administration’s legacy projects and economic reforms. Organized by the President Bola Tinubu Midterm Legacy Projects Review Committee, the event seeks to counter opposition narratives and present a “verifiable success story” to global stakeholders.

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Works Minister Dave Umahi, Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and heads of critical agencies like the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) will unveil a compendium of achievements and launch a dedicated website cataloguing infrastructure, security, and economic gains from Tinubu’s first two years in office.

Project Coordinator Bode Adeyemi, who also leads the Tinubu Consolidation Mandate, emphasized the administration’s resilience amid global economic turbulence. “President Tinubu’s Midas touch has transformed Nigeria’s trajectory,” Adeyemi stated at a Tuesday briefing in Abuja. He cited flagship projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, and the revival of domestic refinery operations as evidence of progress.

The compendium reportedly details strides in local government autonomy, IMF debt repayment, subsidy removal, and security reforms. Adeyemi praised ministers and agency heads for their “relentless efforts,” noting that subsidy removal alone had doubled state allocations, freeing funds for grassroots development.

The London conference, hosted in partnership with the UK chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), signals a strategic push to reshape Nigeria’s international image. APC UK Chairman Tunde Doherty framed the event as a rebuttal to “opposition lies,” stressing Tinubu’s impact on healthcare, aviation, and the digital economy. “This is about telling our own story—on our terms,” he said, referencing recent talks with the British High Commission to align messaging.

Doherty singled out advancements in infrastructure and the rule of law as legacy-defining, while Adeyemi highlighted the administration’s “unprecedented” project documentation rigor. “Every achievement is traceable, measurable, and designed for lasting impact,” he added.
