Nigerian Military’s Decisive Week: 82 Terrorists Eliminated, 93 Kidnap Victims Rescued

The Nigerian Armed Forces have reported the elimination of 82 terrorists and the rescue of 93 kidnapped individuals over the past week. This operation underscores the military’s intensified efforts to combat terrorism and restore peace across the nation.

The Defence Headquarters detailed that combined troops conducted a series of coordinated operations targeting terrorist hideouts and strongholds. These missions led to the neutralization of 82 terrorists, the apprehension of 138 suspects, and the liberation of 93 individuals held captive. The operations spanned multiple regions, focusing on areas notorious for insurgent activities.

82 terrorists were eliminated during engagements, disrupting planned attacks and diminishing the operational capabilities of insurgent groups.138 individuals suspected of aiding or participating in terrorist activities were detained for further investigation. 93 kidnapped victims, including women and children, were safely rescued and are receiving medical attention and support.

This recent success is part of a broader, sustained military campaign against insurgency. In the second quarter of 2024, the armed forces reported the elimination of 2,245 terrorists, the arrest of 3,682 suspects, and the rescue of 1,993 kidnapped victims. These figures highlight the continuous and effective pressure being applied to terrorist networks across the country.

The Defence Headquarters reiterated its commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety of all citizens. The military continues to adapt its strategies, leveraging intelligence and collaboration with local communities to achieve these commendable outcomes.

As operations proceed, the Nigerian Armed Forces call upon the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, reinforcing the collective effort to secure the nation’s peace and stability.
