NUC Accredits 28 Academic Programmes for Zamfara State University

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has accredited all 28 academic programmes for Zamfara State University, Talata-Mafara. The accreditation exercise, which took place from February 16th to 26th, 2025, is a testament to the university’s commitment to academic excellence and quality education.

Out of the 28 programmes accredited, 20 have received full accreditation with excellent scores, while 8 have received interim accreditation. Some of the accredited programmes include: Health Sciences, BNSc. Nursing Science, BSc. Public Health, BSc. Physiotherapy, BSc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics. Science and Technology: BSc. Computer Science, BSc. Biology, BSc. Geology, BSc. Electronics. Arts and Social Sciences: BA History and International Studies, BA English, BA Islamic Studies. Education: BEd. Primary Education, BEd. Early Childhood Education. Communication: BSc. Mass Communication. Economics: BSc. Economics

The university’s management expressed gratitude to the Zamfara State government for its unwavering support and dedication, which enabled the university to meet all accreditation requirements. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yahya A. Zakari, also thanked the entire university community, particularly faculty staff and students, for their maximum contribution and efforts that led to this achievement.

This accreditation outcome enhances the reputation of Zamfara State University and reinforces its commitment to providing quality education that meets national and international standards. The university’s focus on academic excellence and quality education is expected to attract more students and improve the state’s human capital development.

The accreditation of Zamfara State University’s programmes by NUC is a significant milestone that reflects the institution’s dedication to academic excellence. With this achievement, the university is poised to play a more prominent role in shaping the educational landscape of Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole.
