Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, the Director-general of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control noted that none of the 37 orientation camps of the National
Youth Service Corps ( NYSC ) would be shut down should one corps member test positive for COVID19.
Dr. Ihekweazu said that measures for prevention, detection, and prompt response are important for the safety of the camp and its members. This statement was made ahead of the nationwide reopening of the NYSC orientation camps for the 2020 Batch ‘B’ corps members. He said that the COVID19 curve has been flattened in the country, but it was not yet Uhuru.

Adenike Adeyemi, the NYSC (Press and Public Relations) said that the NCDC has briefed prospective Batch B Corps members. He said that measures have been put in place to make sure that corps members comply to COVID19 rules. He reiterated that none of the NYSC camps will be shut due to cases of the pandemic. ‘No camp will be shut down as a result of one testing positive to COVID-19. Rather, care and support will be given to the victim, no one should be stigmatized.’ He lauded Brigadier General
