The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has reiterated his commitment to promoting religious harmony and fairness among all faiths in the ancient city.
Oba Ladoja, who is also a former governor of Oyo State, gave the assurance on Thursday when a delegation from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
Addressing the delegation, the monarch stressed that there could never be religious conflict in Ibadan, as families in the city are known to have members practicing Christianity, Islam, and African Traditional Religion.
“There cannot be a religious crisis in Ibadanland as there is no family compound without adherents of the various religions,” the monarch said.
He added that a traditional ruler is a father to all, irrespective of their religious beliefs, and must always promote peace, tolerance, and understanding among followers of different faiths.
“Any traditional ruler, including the Olubadan of Ibadanland, is the father of all religions. Such a ruler should preach harmony and religious tolerance among all faithful,” Oba Ladoja said.
The General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who was represented by Pastor Sola Adeyeye, a member of the church’s Board of Trustees and National Coordinator of the Royal Fathers’ Fellowship, congratulated Oba Ladoja on his enthronement as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Pastor Adeyeye assured the monarch of the church’s continued spiritual support and prayers for peace, unity, and progress in Ibadanland, Oyo State, and Nigeria.
Oba Ladoja expressed appreciation for the visit and urged the church to remain steadfast in its prayers for the stability and prosperity of the land.
