The Oyo State Commissioner for Agricultural and Rural Development, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, says the state is now among largest producers of cassava in the country.
Barrister Olaleye broke the cheery news at an inter-ministerial press briefing in commemoration of the 6th year in office of Governor Seyi Makinde.
According to Barrister Olaleye, cassava stems distributed to over 1000 farmers and planted on 47 thousand acres of land have been yielding positively.
He said that the present administration would continue to support farmers at ensuring food security and economy growth.

He said further that the state has made it to be one of the largest producers of poultry products in the country.
Barrister Olaleye allayed fears that influx of estate developers into the State would pose a big threat to farming.
Earlier in her opening remerk, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, said Governor Makinde is poised to deliver meaningful development across Oyo State.
