The Oyo State Government has sealed off the premises of a popular restaurant in the Dugbe area of Ibadan following the collapse of the building late Sunday night.
The Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, who led a government delegation to the site, confirmed that there were no casualties reported in the incident.

Speaking to The Journal Nigeria, Mr. Akin-Funmilayo revealed that preliminary findings indicated that substandard materials were used in the construction of the building.
“We cannot afford to take risks with the lives of our citizens,” he said. “The building has been sealed to prevent further danger, and investigations have commenced to determine the exact cause of the collapse.”

The commissioner also stated that the state government would carry out an integrity test on the collapsed building as well as other outlets operated by the same restaurant to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Branch Secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross, Mr. Ojo Olaleye, disclosed that the incident occurred around 10 p.m. and only one vehicle was damaged in the collapse. He confirmed that no injuries were recorded.
The government has urged residents and business owners in the area to remain calm as experts continue their investigation.
