The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, has firmly stated that the PDP remains united and free of internal factions or alternative coalitions.
Speaking during the 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party held in Abuja on Monday, Mohammed emphasized that the PDP continues to demonstrate strength, resilience, and commitment to good governance in the face of challenges.
“This is the miracle of the PDP — a party with history, pedigree, and the human capital to deliver Nigeria. While we have faced controversies and hurdles—mostly imposed on us—we have successfully navigated them, unlike other parties,” the governor said.
Mohammed praised the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) for proactively resolving internal disputes and consolidating unity across all levels. According to him, recent press releases and public disagreements within the party have ceased, a reflection of improved cohesion among party stakeholders.
“The NWC has collapsed all differences and wranglings. They met before this meeting. What you’ve been seeing in terms of press releases and counter-statements has stopped, and you will not see them again,” he assured.
The governor also commended the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), National Assembly caucuses, and especially the state chapters for their critical role in sustaining party activities at the grassroots.
“Our state chapters are intact, and that is where our real strength lies. I thank our state chairmen for keeping the party alive with limited resources and unwavering commitment,” he added.
Addressing recent media reports on alleged defections and internal divisions, Mohammed dismissed such claims as baseless and orchestrated to damage the PDP’s public image.
“The news of people leaving the party is all cosmetic. They were created to diminish us, but they have failed,” he stated.
He concluded by affirming that the entire PDP leadership, from the national to the grassroots level, is fully aligned with the NWC. He discouraged any form of parallel meetings or informal coalitions, stressing that the party has no room for such structures under the current unified leadership.
Meanwhile, the 100th National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party has reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s national secretary.
Speaking to journalists after the NEC meeting held in Abuja, on Monday, the PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, announced that Anyanwu has been officially reinstated.
Damagum further revealed that the 101st NEC meeting has been scheduled for July 23 to finalise arrangements for the upcoming national convention.
The PDP has been struggling with internal conflicts since the 2023 presidential election, which have significantly impacted all arms of the party.
