Heavy rainfall has triggered severe flooding in the Nangere Local Government Area of Yobe State, causing widespread destruction and displacing more than 1,750 residents from over 250 households. The floods destroyed more than 200 homes and contaminated critical water sources, creating an urgent humanitarian crisis in the region.
The affected families have been evacuated from their communities and have relocated to Dawasa village, where they are now seeking shelter and safety. In response to the disaster, the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency SEMA, in collaboration with humanitarian partners, have mobilized and provide immediate assistance to those impacted.

Relief efforts currently include the distribution of clean drinking water, the establishment of temporary shelters, the construction of emergency latrines, and the provision of essential medical support to mitigate health risks and prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases.

Local authorities continue to monitor the situation as NIMET suggests additional rainfall, raising concerns about further flooding and the growing need for sustained intervention and support.
