The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and others over alleged electoral offences during Saturday’s Federal Constituency Bye-Election in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the suspects were intercepted at about 12:45 a.m. on August 16, 2025, by a police patrol team attached to Iperu Remo Division.
The officers stopped a Mitsubishi Spacewagon with registration number LAGOS AKD 887 HT, occupied by INEC staff members, Mr. Toryem Joe-Stans and Ms. Mandara Aminat, alongside their driver.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of ₦2.5 million in cash found in possession of Mr. Joe-Stans Toryem. Upon interrogation, he allegedly confessed that the money was collected at Kehoy Hotel, Iperu, from a man he identified only as “Political Solution,” claiming he was acting on his supervisor’s directive.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Eleweran, for discreet investigation.
He further assured the public that monitoring of the election remains ongoing and promised to update citizens on the outcome of the investigation.
