Police Arrest Six Vandals in Bauchi, Recover Stolen Items

The Journal Nigeria February 5, 2025

Mohamed Garba

Bauchi, Nigeria – In a swift operation, the Bauchi State Police Command has arrested six suspected vandals responsible for damaging public infrastructure and stealing valuable materials across the state.

The arrests were made following intelligence reports and surveillance efforts by law enforcement officers, who tracked the suspects to their hideout. According to the Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the suspects were caught in possession of stolen electrical cables, metal rods, and other essential public assets.

“The suspects have been on our radar for some time. We launched a sting operation, and with the help of community informants, we successfully apprehended them,” the PPRO stated.

The police have assured residents that investigations are ongoing to determine if the arrested individuals are linked to a larger network of vandals operating within and beyond the state. Authorities have also urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

This development has been met with relief by Bauchi residents, who have suffered disruptions and financial losses due to vandalism of public utilities. The suspects will face prosecution as law enforcement intensifies efforts to curb such criminal activities.
