Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has been said to be in an emergency but close-door meeting with the former leaders of the country alongside security chiefs.
The meeting which is being anchored by the President is rumoured to be for consultation and deliberation on social and security issues.
However, the crux of the impromptu meeting which started around 10am is yet to be revealed, but it is believed to be related to the current issues in the country and how they can be resolved.
All the former Heads of State and Presidents participating in the meeting were said to have connected virtually, while the security heads are the ones present in the Executive Council Chambers of the State House with the President.
Among those believed to be in attendance at the exclusive virtual meeting include: General Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalami Abubakar (Rtd), Goodluck Jonathan and Chief Ernest Shonekan
Senior officials physically present with the President at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja include: Yemi Osinbajo (Vice President), Boss Mustapha (Secretary to Government of the Federation), Prof. Ibrahim Gambari (Chief of Staff to the President), and Major General Babagana Monguno(Rtd) – the National Security Adviser.
Other personnel include: General Gabriel Olanisakin, the Chief of Defence Staff; Mohammed Adamu, the Inspector General of Police; Yusuf Bichi, Director General, Department of State Services, and Ahmed Rufai, Director General, National Intelligence Agency.
