President Tinubu Departs For Türkiye On State Visit

President Bola Tinubu will today (Monday) depart Abuja for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, aimed at deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across key sectors.

The trip was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, who said the visit would focus on strengthening ties in security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation.

The visit also serves as a diplomatic reciprocity following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s state visit to Nigeria in October 2021.

During the visit, President Tinubu is expected to hold high-level political and diplomatic engagements with Turkish officials, with discussions centred on shared interests in finance, communication, trade, and investment.

Members of the presidential delegation include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Minister of Defence, and the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence.

Other officials on the trip are the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, the National Security Adviser, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the state visit.
