Reality TV star and singer, Uriel Oputa, has criticized what she described as “fake love” often shown to public figures only after their passing.
Her remarks came in the wake of the death of her uncle, veteran Nollywood actor Fabian Adibe, who died at the age of 82.
In a heartfelt Instagram story, Uriel expressed disappointment at how many people failed to reach out or support her uncle while he was alive but may now flood social media and public spaces with tributes.
“I’m just waiting for the fake love to start. I can’t say much out of respect, but this is something very personal to me,” she wrote.
Adibe, a respected figure in Nollywood, starred in numerous productions over the years, contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s film industry. His death has reignited conversations about how entertainers and public figures are often neglected in their old age, only to be celebrated after they are gone.
