Gabrielle Henry, Miss Jamaica at the Miss Universe 2025 pageant, was rushed to hospital on Wednesday after taking a hard fall during the preliminary evening gown segment in Thailand.
Henry slipped near the edge of the runway while modelling in an orange gown and high heels, tumbling off the stage and prompting immediate intervention from pageant officials and medical personnel. She was carried away on a stretcher as the show momentarily stalled before resuming moments later.
The 28-year-old contestant was taken to Paolo Rangsit Hospital in Bangkok, where she is undergoing medical evaluation. The Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation confirmed that her injuries are not life-threatening but noted that further tests are being conducted to ensure her full recovery.
Miss Universe Organisation owner Raúl Rocha, who visited her at the hospital, said Henry sustained no broken bones and is receiving adequate care. He added that doctors have placed her under close observation.
The incident, captured in multiple viral videos, sparked concern among pageant followers worldwide. Early accounts suggested the fall may have been caused by a slippery surface or unclear runway markers.
Henry, an ophthalmologist and founder of the See Me Foundation for the visually impaired, is representing Jamaica as one of the standout contenders in this year’s competition.
Pageant organisers have yet to confirm whether she will participate in the finals scheduled later in the week.
