A suicide bomber believed to be affiliated with Boko Haram detonated an explosive device at a fish market in Konduga Local Government Area, Borno State, on Friday evening, resulting in significant casualties.
Security sources report the attacker, disguised as a civilian, triggered the blast around nightfall, instantly killing 10 shoppers and vendors while leaving 7 others critically wounded. The perpetrator was also killed in the explosion.

Counterterrorism expert Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident via social media platform X, noting that Nigerian Army units and emergency services were swiftly deployed to the scene. “All injured victims have been transported to nearby medical facilities for urgent care,” Makama stated.

Security forces have established a perimeter around the market area as precaution against potential follow-up attacks. This latest violence underscores the persistent threat of insurgent activity in the region despite ongoing counterterrorism operations.
