The Super Falcons of Nigeria are scheduled to arrive back in the country by 2:30 PM today, following their impressive campaign at the recently concluded 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The team, which thrilled fans with a series of determined performances throughout the tournament, is expected to receive a warm welcome at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where officials from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), supporters, security personnel and members of the media are already on ground awaiting their arrival.
Although they narrowly missed out on the title, the Super Falcons have been widely praised for their resilience and the quality of football displayed, especially in the tense semifinal and final matches.
The arrival will mark the beginning of homecoming celebrations, and a possible reception is expected to be organized in the coming days to honour the players and technical crew for their efforts in flying Nigeria’s flag high on the continental stage.
More updates to follow as the team lands.
