Former Sokoto State Governor and current senator, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has set the political stage on fire, blasting claims that the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led coalition is a northern conspiracy.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Tambuwal dismissed the “northern agenda” tag as baseless propaganda, insisting that the coalition is a broad, national movement built to challenge the ruling APC in 2027.
“Is Peter Obi from Northern Nigeria? Is Aregbesola not from Osun State? What are you telling me? Are they not all part of the coalition?” Tambuwal thundered, rubbishing suggestions of a regional plot.
The outspoken politician also took aim at President Bola Tinubu, warning that the ruling APC should stop believing in the myth of his political invincibility.
“It is not cast in stone that he may not lose in 2027. Every effort being made to make it seem as if he is invisible — that Bola Tinubu cannot be defeated — is rubbish,” Tambuwal declared.
He argued that Tinubu’s government has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians, stressing that citizens have the constitutional right to vote him out if he underperforms.
“It is the beauty of democracy. Power changes hands when the people will it. And by May 29, 2027, Nigerians can, and will, decide,” he said.
Tambuwal’s comments add fresh heat to the political landscape, as opposition forces intensify their moves to build a united front against Tinubu’s re-election bid.
