Gombe State Police Command has recovered the body of a 15-year-old boy believed to have been swept away by floodwaters during Sunday evening’s heavy downpour in the Hayin Kwarin Misau area of Gombe metropolis.
Police spokesperson DSP Buhari Abdullahi confirmed that officers from the local outpost responded to reports of the incident, with investigators subsequently retrieving the body from a gully erosion site. Initial examinations found no visible injuries or signs of violence on the unidentified victim.
Authorities documented the scene before transferring the remains to Gombe Specialist Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced the boy dead.
The tragic discovery highlights the dangers posed by seasonal flooding in urban areas, with police continuing their probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The PPRO said effort are on going to examine the deceased and trace his relatives adding that further development will be communicated as in investigation progresses.
” Members of the public who may have any information that will assist in adentifying the deceased or reaching his family, should kindly come forward or contact the nearest police station” He added.
