Veteran Nollywood actor, Fabian Adibe, renowned for his role in the classic television series Things Fall Apart, has died at the age of 81.

His death was confirmed on Wednesday by journalist and movie producer, Seun Oloketuyi, who announced in a social media post that the actor passed away around 2:30 a.m.

“Things Fall Apart actor, Fabian Adibe, is dead. Died 2:30 am this morning,” Oloketuyi wrote.

Born in December 1943, Adibe reportedly died peacefully in the early hours of August 20, 2025. He had celebrated his 81st birthday in December 2024.

Adibe was a pioneer in Nigeria’s cultural history, leading the country’s delegation to the first Commonwealth Art Festival in 1965. He later began his acting career in 1987 with the widely acclaimed adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s novel, Things Fall Apart, where he portrayed the character Ogbuefi Uzowulu alongside legendary actor Pete Edochie.

Known for his calm demeanour and compelling performances, Adibe’s contributions left a lasting impact on Nollywood and endeared him to generations of audiences.
