A TikTok influencer based in Lagos, Hamzat Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, has been hospitalised following a road incident that occurred during a live broadcast on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
The incident happened on Sunday while the TikTok influencer was streaming live to his followers. According to reports, the livestream, which quickly went viral, showed Peller appearing emotionally distressed while driving alone in his newly acquired Mercedes-Benz. Viewers noticed that he was visibly upset and engaged in an intense phone conversation, reportedly linked to personal relationship issues.
Moments later, the livestream ended abruptly after the vehicle was involved in a crash that left the car badly damaged. Videos circulating on social media showed passersby and other road users stopping to assist him at the scene before he was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
As of the time of reporting, details regarding the severity of his injuries had not been officially confirmed. However, photographs shared online revealed significant damage to the vehicle involved in the crash.
The incident has sparked widespread reactions online, with fans and fellow content creators expressing concern about the pressures faced by public figures who live much of their lives online. Many have called for stronger conversations around emotional wellbeing, especially among young social media influencers.
When contacted, the Lagos State Police Command said it was still gathering full details of the incident. The police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, stated that information would be provided after receiving a report from the Divisional Police Officer covering the area.
Peller, who is 20 years old, has previously made headlines after an incident in August in which he was taken away by armed men while livestreaming. At the time, he reportedly believed they were security personnel before being escorted away, an episode that also generated widespread concern online.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as investigations into the latest incident continue.
