President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to the nation’s capital after completing a 10-day working visit to Lagos, where he engaged investors, government officials, and international stakeholders on key economic and infrastructural priorities.
Tinubu arrived in Lagos on September 26, shortly after attending the coronation of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, in Ibadan.
His return to Abuja was confirmed on Monday in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
During his stay, President Tinubu held strategic meetings with major investors, including Bayo Ogunlesi, Chief Executive Officer of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Keem Belo-Osagie, former Chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Etisalat, and now Chairman of Metis Capital Partners.
He also received the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Arsenio Dominguez, accompanied by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and other industry leaders.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to diversifying Nigeria’s economy, Tinubu emphasized the development of the maritime sector as a viable alternative to fossil energy.
Highlighting other activities during the period, Onanuga said the President embarked on a series of national engagements ahead of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary.
He visited Imo State, where he commissioned several projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma and launched a book authored by the governor chronicling 10 years of APC governance in Nigeria.
On October 1, Tinubu delivered his Independence Day broadcast from the State House, Dodan Barracks, and later commissioned the renovated National Theatre, renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts.
In addition, on October 4, the President attended the burial of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, in Jos, Plateau State.
There, he paid tribute to the deceased and reassured Christian communities in Northern Nigeria of his administration’s dedication to fairness and equity.
