In a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism, troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have arrested a suspected Boko Haram logistics supplier in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The operation, which was carried out based on credible intelligence, led to the apprehension of the suspect, identified as Ahmadu Mohammed Dogo, at Muna Garage around 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday. Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the arrest on his verified X handle.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was intercepted while allegedly attempting to smuggle Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, concealed inside Fearless energy drink plastic bottles. The fuel-filled bottles were carefully packed in 12 sacks in what appeared to be a deliberate effort to evade security checks.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed that he was transporting the fuel to Gamboru-Ngala, a border town in Borno State that has long been identified as a key logistics hub for Boko Haram and other insurgent groups operating in the Lake Chad Basin region.
In addition to the concealed fuel, troops recovered several other incriminating items from the suspect, including charms, suspected hard drugs, rings, and syringes.
The arrest is part of a broader military strategy to disrupt and dismantle Boko Haram logistics and financial supply chains in the North East. By targeting suppliers of essential commodities such as fuel—a critical resource for terrorist operations—the military aims to weaken the insurgents’ ability to carry out attacks and sustain their activities in the region.
It was reported that the suspect is currently in military custody, where he is undergoing further interrogation to extract vital intelligence on Boko Haram supply networks, collaborators, and potential planned operations. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests as investigations progress.
This successful operation underscores the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between the Nigerian military and local vigilante groups like the CJTF in combating terrorism. It also highlights the continued importance of human intelligence in tracking and neutralizing threats posed by insurgents in the region.
