UNILAG Graduates 272 First-Class Students At 2025 Convocation

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has graduated 89 first-class students from its Faculty of Engineering as part of its ongoing 56th Convocation Ceremonies.

A total of 2,097 students were awarded degrees on Wednesday across the Faculties of Engineering, Law, and Management Sciences, according to figures released by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ogunsola disclosed that the Faculty of Engineering produced 613 graduates, with 89 attaining first-class honours.

She further revealed that UNILAG will confer degrees on a total of 16,506 students across all faculties during the 2025 convocation exercises.

“Today, graduating students of the Faculties of Engineering, Law and Management Sciences will be admitted to their degrees. Later in the day, students from the faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dental Sciences, Pharmacy, Health Professions and the Distance Learning Institute will also be admitted,” the vice-chancellor said.

According to Ogunsola, the Faculty of Law produced 321 graduates, including three first-class degree holders, while the Faculty of Management Sciences graduated 1,163 students, with 180 earning first-class honours.

Overall, the breakdown of graduating students showed 272 first-class degrees, 1,108 second-class upper, 580 second-class lower, 131 third-class, and six pass degrees.

The vice-chancellor also announced that the university would confer honorary doctorate degrees on two distinguished Nigerians in recognition of their service and contributions to national development.

Mr. Jubril Tinubu is to receive a Doctor of Business degree, while former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Kanu Agabi, will be awarded a Doctor of Law degree.

Ogunsola expressed appreciation to the university’s senate, staff, alumni, partners, and stakeholders for their sustained support, reaffirming UNILAG’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global competitiveness.
