United Nigeria Airlines has handed over popular social media personalities, Martins Otse—widely known as VeryDarkMan—and Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly called Mr Jollof, to airport security after a heated confrontation aboard one of its flights on Monday.
The incident occurred during the boarding of Flight UN0523 at the Asaba International Airport, Delta State, and was captured in a viral video showing both men exchanging words in a tense scene that prompted intervention from airline officials.
In a statement issued by the airline’s Public Relations Officer, Chibuike Uloka, United Nigeria Airlines confirmed there was an altercation between the two online influencers and noted that the crew acted swiftly in line with international aviation safety protocols.
According to Uloka, the crew “responded immediately and professionally to de-escalate the situation,” after which both passengers were deboarded without delay to prevent further disruption and ensure passenger safety.
The airline stated that the two men were subsequently handed over to airport security operatives for further investigation, emphasizing that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy for any behaviour that jeopardises safety or the well-being of passengers and crew.
The statement added:
“After all standard procedures were completed, the flight departed safely while the passengers involved in the altercation remained with the authorities.”
United Nigeria Airlines reiterated its commitment to upholding strict safety regulations and ensuring a calm travel environment, assuring travellers that incidents of this nature are treated with the utmost seriousness.
The circumstances that led to the disagreement between VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof are still unclear, as airport security continues its investigation.
