Beijing, China has declined to congratulate Joe Biden, winner of the US presidential election, on his victory, noting that the final outcome of the vote was yet to be decided.
The incumbent US president, Donald Trump, more so, has refused to accept defeat in the just concluded US presidential election, and has launched several legal challenges against the outcome of the election.
Trump, in his tweet on Sunday, said, ‘Since when does the Lamestream Media call who our next president will be?’
However, many world leaders have publicly congratulated Biden and his running mate, Kamala Harris on their victory following the declaration of the Democrats as winners. Trump’s administration has been noted for a costly trade war and a frigid relationship with China with the two powerful countries condescending one another, while apportioning blame spiraling from the Covid-19 pandemic to Beijing’s human rights record in Xinjiang and Hong Kong.
China stated that, it had ‘noticed that Mr. Biden declared he is the winner of the election.’

Wang further said, ‘We hope the new US government can meet China halfway.’
