The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has postponed the release of the 2020 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination result.
The WASSCE results were expected to be released within 45 days after the commencement of the examination, which ends today. The release of the results had been postponed to the first week of November, due to the curfew imposed in some parts of the country.
The examination body made the statement on its Twitter handle thus, ‘WASSCE SC 2020 Results Release Date: Dear candidates, the Council had planned to release the results today in fulfilment of our Project 45 but due to the curfew imposed last week, it had to be postponed till next week.’
It also disclosed that, ‘The exact date will be made known soon.’
However, Mr. Demianus Ojijeogu, Head of Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria, has also confirmed the new development and the circumstances surrounding the delay.
He confirmed that the examination body’s ‘Calabar Office, in Cross River State was looted, vandalised and burnt down by hoodlums.’
