In a move that has ignited widespread debate, the White House has disseminated a video depicting undocumented immigrants in chains and handcuffs being escorted onto a deportation flight departing from Seattle. The 41-second clip, titled “ASMR: Illegal Alien Deportation Flight,” was shared on the social media platform X on Tuesday.
This release aligns with the Trump administration’s recent escalation of deportation operations. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem actively participated in these efforts, joining federal agents in New York City to announce the arrests of immigrants facing serious criminal charges.
Among those apprehended was Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, alleged to be associated with the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua and accused of kidnapping.
The administration has also commenced utilizing military aircraft for deportation purposes. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared images of individuals in restraints boarding a military plane, stating, “Deportation flights have begun.” She emphasized President Trump’s commitment to stringent immigration policies, noting that those entering the U.S. illegally will face severe consequences.
These actions have prompted significant backlash both domestically and internationally. In India, opposition lawmakers protested the alleged mistreatment of deportees, leading to a temporary adjournment of Parliament. Reports indicated that deported individuals were handcuffed and had their legs chained during flights from the U.S. to Amritsar.
The administration maintains that these measures are essential for enforcing immigration laws and ensuring national security. However, critics argue that the treatment of deportees is inhumane and tarnishes the nation’s global image. As the debate continues, the world watches closely to see how these policies will unfold and impact international relations.
