The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of an unidentified woman found lifeless in a hotel room in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The woman’s body was discovered on Wednesday inside a hotel located along the Ore–Okitipupa Road, while the man who reportedly checked in with her earlier in the day had fled the premises.
A hotel source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, said the two arrived together before staff later found the woman dead in the room.
“The two were seen together earlier in the day, but when a hotel worker got to the room, the woman was found lifeless on the bed, and the man was nowhere to be found. It was the same worker who raised the alarm, and the matter was immediately reported at the Ore police station,” the source said.
The source added that there were no visible injuries on the body or signs of struggle inside the room.
Confirming the incident to journalists on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Olayinka Ayanlade, said an investigation had commenced and efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect.
“Yes, the incident happened, and we have begun an investigation. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect,” he said.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at a morgue in the community for preservation and autopsy.
