The Yobe State Police Command has reported an incident in which a 55-year-old man, Hamidu Ali, murdered his 40-year-old wife with a machete in Babbangida, Tarmuwa Local Government Area.

According to police spokesperson Dungus Abdulkarim, the attack occurred on the morning of June 28, 2025, in Koriyel Village. A distress call alerted authorities, but the suspect fled before police arrived.

“Investigations are ongoing, and efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect,” Abdulkarim stated.

In a related arrest in Fika LGA, police detained two men, Musa Sule, 25, and Muntari Suleman, 30, for killing a man in Ngalda Town, Fika LGA, over accusations of stealing a phone and power bank.

“The suspects have confessed, and the case is under further investigation at the State CID,” Abdulkarim added.

The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, urged residents to avoid jungle justice and report disputes to law enforcement agencies.

“We encourage peaceful conflict resolution and cooperation with security agencies to maintain order,” Ado emphasized.
