Former Guinness World Record (GWR) holder, Hilda Baci, has announced plans to attempt another historic feat—cooking the world’s biggest pot of jollof rice.
The celebrated Nigerian chef, who gained global attention in 2023 for her 93-hour-11-minute cooking marathon, revealed in a viral Instagram video on Monday that she would be cooking 250 bags of basmati rice in a specially designed pot.
According to Baci, the pot—measuring six meters wide, 1.1 meters tall, and 1.3 meters deep—has a capacity of 22,619 litres. The cooking, scheduled for September 12, 2025, is expected to serve at least 10,000 people.
“I’m making the executive decision to cook 250 bags of basmati rice. The pot is 6 meters wide by 6 meters wide, 1.1 meters tall, and about 1.3 meters deep. I’m sure the pot is not going to sink,” she said confidently in the announcement.
The attempt, if successful, will mark another milestone in the chef’s career and further cement her influence on Nigeria’s culinary stage.
