Iyorchia Ayu And Elected Members Of PDP NWC Inaugurated

As parts  of it’s  effort to reposition itself and reclaim the number one position in the country from the ruling All Progressive Party (APC) ,  Nigeria’s main opposition party  People’s  Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a new National Chairman and National Working Committee (NWC) members.

Senator Iyorchia Ayu and 20 other members of the NWC who emerged victorious at the  October 2021 National convention were inaugurated Friday 10 December 2021 to pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The glamorous event held at the international women’s center Abuja was greeted with high hopes as the newly inaugurated committee which was described as the  ‘rescue team’ is believed would lead the party to victory come 2023.

The chairman of the party iyorchia Ayu and the members of the NWC are Deputy National Chairman (North) – Umar Damagum, Deputy National Chairman (South) – Taofeek Arapaja, National Secretary – Samuel Anyanwu, National Treasurer – Ahmed Mohammed, National Organising Secretary – Umar Bature, National Financial Secretary – Daniel Woyegikuro, National Women’s Leader – Professor Stella Effah-Attoe, National Youth Leader – Muhammed Suleiman, and National Legal Adviser – Kamaldeen Ajibade.

Others are National Publicity Secretary – Debo Ologunagba, National Auditor – Okechuckwu Daniel, Deputy National Secretary – Setoji Kosheodo, Deputy National Treasurer – Ndubisi David, Deputy National Publicity Secretary – Ibrahim Abdullahi, Deputy National Organising Secretary – Ighoyota Amori, Deputy National Financial Secretary – Adamu Kamale, Deputy National Women’s Leader – Hajara Wanka, Deputy National Youth Leader – Timothy Osadolor, Deputy National Legal Adviser – Okechukwu Osuoha, and Deputy National Auditor – Abdulrahman Mohammed.

While the new officials took turns to take the oath of office the out going PDP national chairman and Adamawa state governor Ahmadu Fintiri charged the new officials not to forget the task that lies ahead.

‘The PDP had been in power since the return to civil rule in 1999 until it lost to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 general elections.’

In furtherance to this, Ayu addressed the gathering and earmarked what the party should expect members of the new NWC and how they are going to do things differently to reclaim power at the centre come 2023.

Recall that the party’s ‘National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja on Saturday said that the event would hold at the International Conference Centre, Abuja on the 10th December

He stated further that the transition from the outgoing to incoming national officers of the party was sequenced to the successful conduct of the Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 elective National Convention and in keeping with due process of internal democracy.’

The event was well attended by party leaders including serving and former governors, National Assembly members, and two former vice presidents, Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo.
