Toyin Abraham Faces Backlash Over Leaked Audio Involving Funke Akindele

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has come under criticism following the circulation of a leaked audio recording of a private conversation between her and a TikTok fan, Bisgold, which has reignited discussions about her strained relationship with fellow actress Funke Akindele.

The recording, which reportedly lasts 11 minutes and 42 seconds, began circulating on social media platforms, including X and Instagram, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

According to reports, the conversation, conducted largely in Yoruba and Pidgin English, featured discussions about the criticism Abraham receives online, her relationship with fellow entertainers and the activities of social media users allegedly targeting people close to her.

However, the most controversial part of the recording reportedly occurred when Bisgold made insulting remarks about Akindele while Abraham appeared to laugh without asking the fan to stop.

The recording has drawn mixed reactions, with some social media users criticising Abraham’s reported response to the remarks, while others have argued that the conversation should be considered in its full context.

The leaked audio has also brought renewed attention to the longstanding tension between Abraham and Akindele, two prominent figures in the Nigerian film industry.

Background to the disagreement

The relationship between the actresses became a subject of public discussion following an incident at the premiere of Iyabo Ojo’s film, The Return of Arinzo.

Videos from the event circulated online, with viewers interpreting an interaction between Akindele and Abraham as a snub after Abraham appeared to greet her colleague.

Abraham subsequently reportedly expressed her displeasure over the incident and said she had unfollowed Akindele on social media.

Iyabo Ojo, who has relationships with both actresses, has also been drawn into public discussions about the disagreement.

The leaked recording has renewed debate about the dispute, with social media users expressing differing opinions about the actresses’ relationship and the responsibilities of public figures when discussing colleagues privately.

No official statement on the recording

As of Thursday, October 15, neither Abraham nor Akindele had issued an official statement directly addressing the leaked conversation, according to reports published earlier in the day.

However, a later report said Abraham responded to the criticism by reposting a defence from an Instagram influencer, Bukky Majek, on her Instagram Stories.

The circumstances surrounding the recording’s release and whether the complete conversation has been made public remain unclear.

The development has added another chapter to the public discussion surrounding the relationship between the two actresses, while raising questions about privacy, celebrity friendships and the circulation of private conversations online.
