The Taraba State House of Assembly has refuted claims that it intends to remove Deputy Governor Aminu Alkali, who is currently undergoing medical treatment in Abuja.
Nelson Len, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, clarified the situation during a press briefing in Jalingo on Thursday, stating that no such move is being contemplated by the legislature.
Len emphasized that Alkali is expected to return to office once he completes his recovery and urged the public to ignore unfounded rumors about the assembly declaring him unfit for duty.
He further affirmed that none of the state’s three branches of government executive, legislative, or judiciary has taken any steps toward removing or replacing the deputy governor.
“We urge the public to disregard these baseless speculations about the assembly declaring the deputy governor incapacitated,” Len stated.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) notes that Alkali has been on medical leave since November 2024, with his extended absence raising concerns in some circles.
