Bandits have launched yet another deadly assault in Katsina State, killing two elderly brothers and abducting several residents in Doguwar Dorawa, a farming community near Guga in Bakori Local Government Area. The renewed violence has deepened worries over the rising boldness of bandits across rural settlements in the state.
Witnesses said the attackers struck around 10 p.m., operating for more than an hour without resistance. The two slain community leaders—Alhaji Bishir and Alhaji Surajo—were widely regarded as stabilising figures whose deaths have left villagers devastated.
The bandits reportedly arrived on motorcycles, hid the bikes in nearby bushes, and infiltrated the village on foot to avoid detection. For over an hour, the bandits moved freely, killing, looting, and abducting residents. Community sources believe the attackers are loyalists of Idi Abasu Aiki and Kwashen Garwa, two notorious bandit kingpins who have long tormented Bakori and surrounding communities.

While Doguwar Dorawa mourned, another group of bandits simultaneously invaded Layin ‘Yannehu, rustling livestock and forcing families to flee. Similar incidents have recently hit Ganjar, Alhazawa, and Gidan Nagari, where more than 40 people were abducted and several homes emptied.
Residents say they now live in fear, uncertain of when the next wave of bandits might strike. They are calling on authorities to intensify security operations to halt the expanding influence of bandits across Katsina and restore peace to vulnerable communities.
