The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has deployed over 2,000 officers across Abuja to ensure security during the Yuletide celebrations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, ordered the deployment of 2,202 personnel to places of worship, recreational centers, highways, motor parks and other public spaces, according to a statement released on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.
Adeh said the deployment is in line with the 2025 festive season operational order and is aimed at ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free celebration for residents and visitors.
“Tactical units, rapid response squads and patrol teams have been mobilized, supported by intensified vehicular and foot patrols across the FCT,” she said.
She added that black spots, abandoned buildings and shanties are being closely monitored to prevent criminal activities, while explosive ordnance disposal units have been deployed to conduct routine sweeps at public gathering points.
The police command urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through designated emergency channels.
