FCT Police Report Quarter of Intense Operations: Nine Armed Suspects Killed, Six Officers Fallen.

Abuja – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has reported a period of intense operational engagement and solemn loss, detailing its performance for the final quarter of 2025.

In a press briefing held on Friday at the command headquarters in Abuja, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Miller Dantawaye, presented the scorecard, revealing that nine armed criminal suspects were neutralized in gun battles with police operatives.

According to CP Dantawaye, the suspects were killed during high-risk anti-kidnapping and armed robbery operations after engaging officers in gunfire while attempting to escape or abduct victims.

The period was also marked by profound sacrifice, as the command lost six police officers in the line of duty. “It is with deep respect that the command records that six police officers paid the supreme price,” Dantawaye stated. “Their sacrifices remain a solemn reminder of the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force. May their souls rest in peace.”

Despite these losses, the command highlighted significant operational successes. From 300 reported cases across various crime categories, 160 suspects were arrested.
A detailed breakdown shows that seven kidnapping incidents led to 41 arrests, while 62 armed robbery cases resulted in 38 arrests. The command also recorded 26 ‘one-chance’ robbery cases with 12 suspects arrested, and 35 cases of car theft/ snatching led to 11 arrests and the recovery of 20 stolen vehicles.

In a key achievement, 24 kidnapped victims, including women and children, were rescued from criminal hideouts and forest locations. Eight victims of ‘one-chance’ and other violent crimes were also freed.

On prosecutions, 96 suspects were charged to court within the quarter, with 60 convictions secured so far. Other cases are ongoing.
A substantial cache of exhibits was recovered, including 21 AK-47 rifles, 10 shotguns, one K2 rifle, locally fabricated firearms, live ammunition, stolen vehicles, illicit drugs, and a cash sum of N15.45 million linked to criminal activities.

Commissioner Dantawaye reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and community engagement. He expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, the FCT Minister, sister security agencies, and residents for their support.
He urged the public to continue providing timely information, assuring them of the command’s resolve to maintain peace and security across the FCT.

The nation’s capital has faced persistent security challenges in recent years, prompting intensified police operations and inter-agency collaboration to address incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, and related crimes.
