Tinubu Laying Solid Foundation For Long-Term Growth And Shared Prosperity — Information Minister
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is laying a solid foundation for long-term economic growth and shared prosperity in Nigeria, despite taking what he described as bold and sometimes difficult decisions.
Idris made the remarks while receiving members of the Grassroots Advocacy for Tinubu (GAT) 2027 during a courtesy visit in Abuja.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Malam Rabiu Ibrahim, the minister said the policy choices taken so far by the administration were necessary to stabilise the economy and restore public and investor confidence.
“The administration has taken bold and sometimes difficult decisions to place Nigeria on a more sustainable path,” Idris said. “Early signs of recovery are becoming evident across key sectors of the economy.”

According to him, the measures implemented by the Tinubu-led government were aimed at correcting long-standing structural challenges and positioning the country for inclusive and sustained development.
“What we are seeing today are the foundations for long-term growth and shared prosperity,” the minister stated.
He stressed that Nigeria’s improving economic outlook must be safeguarded through unity, responsible communication, and collective support for national policies, warning that negative or distorted narratives about the country could undermine progress.
“I want to warn that distorted narratives about the country hurt investor confidence and slow development. We must speak positively and truthfully about Nigeria,” Idris said.
He added that projecting stability, unity, and policy consistency was crucial to attracting investments and creating economic opportunities for Nigerians.
“When we project stability and unity, we attract investments and create opportunities for our people,” he noted.
The minister commended the Grassroots Advocacy for Tinubu 2027 group for what he described as responsible civic engagement and its willingness to support the dissemination of accurate public information.
He also welcomed the group’s proposal to partner with the Federal Ministry of Information and the National Orientation Agency in areas such as public enlightenment, youth engagement, and strategic communication.
According to Idris, advocacy groups play a critical role in ensuring that government policies and reforms reach grassroots communities, describing effective communication as essential to national stability and development.
The minister further reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to making Nigeria work for all citizens, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or background, assuring that the administration remains focused on inclusive governance.
He added that the ministry would continue to collaborate with credible organisations to ensure that accurate and timely information about government policies is widely shared across the country.
Earlier, the National Coordinator of GAT 2027, Prof. Ochugudu Ipuele, said the group visited the minister to formally brief him on its activities and to express solidarity with his mandate of informing Nigerians and clarifying government policies.
“We are here to solidarise with you on the mandate you have for Nigeria, which is to inform the country, clarify government policies, and take information to the grassroots,” Ipuele said.
He noted that the group remains committed to supporting President Tinubu’s policies by countering false or misleading narratives, particularly during election periods, and by engaging young people.
“This group is poised to respond in real time to false or misleading information in the public space and to actively engage the youth,” he added.
