Zelenskiy Says US Security Guarantees Document Is 100% Ready For Signing

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has confirmed that a United States document outlining security guarantees for Ukraine is fully prepared, with Kyiv now awaiting confirmation of the date and venue for its signing.

Speaking at a news conference in Vilnius, Lithuania, on Sunday, Zelenskiy said the agreement represents a critical pillar of Ukraine’s security framework and would be sent for legislative approval once signed.

“For us, security guarantees are first and foremost guarantees of security from the United States. The document is 100% ready, and we are waiting for our partners to confirm the date and place when we will sign it,” Zelenskiy said.

He added that the document would subsequently be forwarded to both the U.S. Congress and the Ukrainian parliament for ratification.

Zelenskiy’s remarks followed weekend talks in Abu Dhabi, where Ukrainian and Russian negotiators held their first trilateral discussions involving U.S. mediators since the start of Washington’s latest push to end the nearly four-year-old war.

Although no agreement was reached during the Friday and Saturday meetings, officials from both Moscow and Kyiv indicated willingness to continue dialogue. A U.S. official said further talks are expected next Sunday in Abu Dhabi.

According to Zelenskiy, discussions centred on a 20-point U.S. peace framework, with several contentious issues reduced but key differences remaining.

“Moscow wants to do everything possible to force Ukraine to abandon eastern regions it has failed to capture since the full-scale invasion,” Zelenskiy said, stressing that Kyiv remains firm on preserving its territorial integrity.

“These are two fundamentally different positions — Ukraine’s and Russia’s. The Americans are trying to find a compromise,” he added, noting that any resolution would require difficult concessions from all sides.
