De Zerbi Takes Charge At Tottenham On Five-Year Deal

Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Roberto De Zerbi as their new head coach, with the Italian manager agreeing to a five-year contract effective immediately.

The appointment was confirmed on Tuesday through a post by transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano on X. The post read, “Tottenham agree deal to appoint Roberto De Zerbi as new head coach, here we go! Story revealed yesterday, now confirmed as De Zerbi has accepted the #THFC job with immediate effect. Five-year deal set to be signed as De Zerbi decides to accept this challenge.”

De Zerbi’s arrival ends a brief period of uncertainty following the departure of Igor Tudor, who parted ways with the club after a short tenure. Tottenham had been actively pursuing De Zerbi as their next head coach, marking another significant shift in what has been a turbulent campaign for the North London club.

The 45-year-old Italian previously managed Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, where he earned recognition for his attacking style of play and tactical approach. He also had spells at Shakhtar Donetsk and Sassuolo before his time in England. His immediate task at Tottenham will involve strengthening the squad as the club aims to compete domestically and in European competitions under his leadership.

Tottenham’s management moved swiftly to secure De Zerbi on a long-term deal, signaling a commitment to stability after a season that has seen multiple changes in the dugout. The club has not yet issued an official statement at the time of this report, but Romano’s confirmation is widely regarded in the football media landscape as indicative of a finalized agreement.

De Zerbi’s first match in charge is expected to come after the international break, as Spurs prepare for the final stretch of the Premier League season.
