Casemiro Announces Plans to Leave Manchester United
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has publicly confirmed that his time at Old Trafford is drawing to a close, stating clearly that he has no intention of extending his stay at the club beyond his current contract.
The Brazilian international made the declaration in an interview with ESPN, where he reflected candidly on his years in England and signalled that a decision about his future had already been reached. “There is no possibility of me staying for another season,” he said, in remarks that effectively closed the door on any renewal discussions.
Casemiro, who joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in August 2022 in a deal reported to be worth around £70 million, described his spell at the club as a meaningful chapter spanning what he called four important years of both challenge and memorable moments. He expressed genuine affection for the club and its supporters, describing the Manchester United fan base as among the most passionate he has encountered throughout a decorated career.
Despite the finality of his tone, the midfielder was careful to frame his exit in terms of respect rather than disappointment. He said his priority is to “go out on top,” ensuring that his departure reflects the regard he holds for the institution. He emphasised that professionalism and full commitment would define his conduct until his final day in a United shirt.
His comments arrive against the backdrop of growing speculation about his next destination. Among the clubs reportedly monitoring his availability is Major League Soccer side Inter Miami CF, who are said to be exploring experienced European midfielders as part of their ongoing squad development. Inter Miami, known for high profile recruitment including the signing of Lionel Messi in 2023, have not made any official statement confirming interest in the Brazilian.
Casemiro’s career credentials make him an attractive proposition for clubs seeking leadership and defensive stability. Before arriving in Manchester, he was a cornerstone of Real Madrid’s dominant era in European football, winning five UEFA Champions League titles with the Spanish giants.
His United tenure, however, has been marked by inconsistency at team level. While his defensive quality and experience brought early stability, more recent seasons have seen his influence questioned amid broader debates about the club’s tactical direction and squad restructuring under successive management changes.
Manchester United have not issued any public response to Casemiro’s remarks, leaving unclear whether the club is planning an immediate transition or intends a gradual phase out aligned with the expiry of his contract.
