The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Reverend Umai Ukpai, describing him as a “true general in the army of God” and a man whose life embodied humility, faith, and devotion.
During a condolence visit to the residence of the late cleric earlier today, Pastor Adeboye reflected on Reverend Ukpai’s remarkable life and ministry, noting that he was “not just a minister of the gospel, but a living sermon whose life spoke louder than words.”
“Reverend Umai Ukpai was a man of unshakable faith, quiet strength, and uncommon humility,” Pastor Adeboye said. “His story was one of service, love for God’s people, and steadfast devotion to the Kingdom.”
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of his longtime friend and fellow servant of God, Adeboye added:
“He has fought the good fight. He has finished his course. And now, he rests in the everlasting arms of the Almighty, where there is no more pain, no more striving — only peace, joy, and glory.”
The RCCG leader also extended his condolences to Pastor Philomena Ukpai, wife of the late reverend, and to the entire Ukpai family. He prayed that God would comfort and strengthen them through this time of grief.
“May the Lord Himself wrap you in His unfailing love, comfort your hearts, and give you strength in this valley of sorrow,” he said.
Adeboye described Reverend Ukpai as a faithful soldier of Christ who had “not died, but simply changed address — moving from the field of battle to the presence of his Commander-in-Chief.”
“He is home,” Adeboye concluded. “He is at rest. He is in the arms of God Almighty.”
Reverend Umai Ukpai, founder and president of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, was a revered evangelist whose ministry touched millions across Nigeria and beyond. He passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025, after a brief illness. He was aged 80.
