Lagos State Governor Mourns Passing of Olu of Epe

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed his condolences to the family and people of Epe Kingdom following the death of the 19th Olu of Epe, Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale. The monarch passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the age of 86.

Sanwo-Olu hailed the late royal father’s dedication to the development of Epe Kingdom and Lagos State, noting that his contributions would remain a lasting legacy. The Governor described Oba Adewale’s passing as a significant loss to the Epe community and the traditional institution in Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu called on the royal family, friends, and associates of the late monarch, along with the entire Epe populace, to honor his memory by preserving and building on his achievements. He prayed that Almighty God would grant the royal family and the people of Epe Kingdom the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale was a committed civil servant who served Lagos State passionately. He rose to the position of Director of Administration in the Ministry of Education and also served as Executive Secretary at the Ministry of Lands before becoming a traditional leader.

The Governor’s condolence message highlights the impact of Oba Adewale’s life and legacy on the people of Epe Kingdom and Lagos State.

As the royal family and the community come to terms with the loss, they take comfort in the lasting contributions of the late monarch.
