President Muhammadu Buhari will be in Lagos on Thursday to grace the public presentation of the autobiography of former governor of Osun State and former interim chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande.

The event will take place at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos state.

According to a statement by Tunde Rahman, media aide of Bola Tinubu, Buhari is the special guest of honour at the event; Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, is the chief host, while Tinubu, national leader of APC, is the guest of honour.

It was gathered that renowned noble laureate, Wole Soyinka wrote the foreword in the autobiography, titled, “My Participations,” in which he described it as a national gift that could not have been more instructively timed.

The octogenarian was born in Ila Orogun, Ila local government area of Osun State, Nigeria, on January 16th 1939. He was a governor of Osun State, Nigeria from 1999 to 2003 and was the first interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.

Akande was deputy governor of Oyo State between 1979 and 1983 when Bola Ige was governor (Osun State was formerly part of Oyo State). He was elected on the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) platform. Akande was described as the nephew of Chief Bola Ige.

Akande became the governor of Osun State in April 1999 under the platform of Alliance for Democracy (AD) party. He contested again in 2003 after the end of his first term, but was defeated by Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He is currently a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Last month he was conferred with an honourary doctorate degree award (Honoris Causa) in Political Science by Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State.
