The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has banned the import, sale, and consumption of a specific batch of Indomie brand Noodles Vegetable Flavour, following a recall notice issued by French health authorities.
In a public alert released on Friday, NAFDAC stated the product contains undeclared milk and egg allergens, posing significant health risks to consumers with allergies or intolerances.
According to the alert, the recalled product is identified as:
· Product Name: Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour
· Batch/Lot: All lots
· Best Before Date: 06/02/2026
The alert was initiated after the French food safety authority, Rappel Conso, flagged the product. NAFDAC emphasized that while the risk of the affected batch entering Nigeria is low due to the federal government’s existing ban on noodle imports, vigilance is necessary to prevent illicit entry or circulation.
“NAFDAC has commenced vigilance actions to guard against possible entry of the brand into the country,” the agency stated, noting that acquisition through online purchases or international travel would also be monitored.
The agency has directed its zonal directors and state coordinators to conduct surveillance and remove the product if found in the market. Distributors, retailers, and consumers are urged to avoid the distribution, sale, and consumption of the recalled product.
Consumers in possession of the implicated noodles are advised to discard them immediately and report any suspected sales to the nearest NAFDAC office or via the toll-free line 0800-162-3322.
NAFDAC further encouraged the public to report any adverse effects related to food or drug consumption through its official e-reporting channels available on the agency’s website.
